Showing Your Home
- Showcase your home as if you were receiving guests. Open all window coverings, turn on lights, place fresh flowers in vases, hang your best towels and light a fire in the fireplace if it is cold outside.
- Maintain your home in "showing" condition. Make sure all beds are made and all dishes put away.
- Pleasant aromas from scented candles or potpourri add to the ambiance of your home.
- Soft mellow music is often soothing. Turn off any television or radio.
- Confine all pets or remove during showings.
- If possible, leave for all showings. When a seller is present, a buyer feels as if he is intruding.
- If you must be present, be courteous and helpful, but do not force a conversation with the buyer. Do not follow the realtor and buyers around your home.
- Do not allow buyers into your property unless they are accompanied by a sales associate. You should put away your most valuable items such as jewelry and collectibles.
- For evening showings, turn on all lights for a bright and welcoming appearance.
